SANITATION & HEALTH

World Health Organization Fact-Sheet (WHO 2019):

  • 827,000 people in low- and middle-income countries die as a result of inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene each year

  • Better water, sanitation, and hygiene could prevent the deaths of 297,000 children aged under 5 years each year

  • Poor sanitation is linked to transmission of diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid, and polio and exacerbates stunting

“Global access to safe water, adequate sanitation, proper hygiene education can reduce illness and death from disease, leading to improved health, poverty reduction, and socio-economic development.” (CDC/WASH)

Health Education

With every safe water project, we provide hygiene and sanitation education to reduce the risk for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)-related diseases. Our curriculum focuses on the importance of drinking safe water, washing hands, and properly disposing of human waste,
